The AAG runs competitive squads in both MG (Men’s Gymnastics) and WG (Women’s Gymnastics) levels 1-10. Gymnasts who show promise are selected from recreational classes to join the Development Squad or Class 3 (our competitive program).
DEVELOPMENT SQUAD (DS): Once invited to join the DS program, there are a number of options in terms of days, times and attendance requirements. A gymnast may attend one or two DS sessions in addition to their recreational classes, or alternatively, they may attend two or three of the DS sessions only. Depending on commitment, attendance and ability, some DS gymnasts will be able to compete for the club in various competitions.
COMPETITIVE SQUADS: The competitive class is for committed gymnasts who are willing to dedicate a minimum of 9 hours per week to training and development in the gym. It is imperative for gymnasts and their families to understand that strength, flexibility and gymnastic artistry are attainable for any gymnast, but the levels to which these are achieved will be determined by how many hours are spent in the gym.
Additional costs are incurred with competitive gymnastics at AAG. These include:
Club tracksuit
Club leotards
Long whites and shorts (boys only)
Hand guards
Competition entry fees
